Fredrus W. Baldwin

Birth: about 1858, NY

Father: Rice Hart Baldwin
Mother: Lucy Wheelock

Notes:

In 1880, Fred Baldwin, 22, born New York, was living in Leslie, Ingham County, Michigan, in the household of his aunt, Almira Winslow, and her husband Ira.

On 14 Nov 1893, Fred W. Baldwin was paid $15.08 inheritance from the estate of his aunt, Delia (Wheelock) Case.1

He is not mentioned as a surviving sibling in the obituary of his sister, Charity M. Calkins, dated 6 May 1912.2

But he is mentioned as a surviving sibling of his sister, Francelia Hopper, who died 4 Aug 1929. Her obit calls him Fred Baldwin of Oakfield, New York.3 The census records do not show Fred Baldwin living in Oakfield, but there was a Fred Baldwin of the right age living in nearby Alabama, Genesee County, New York, from 1920 thru 1940, no apparent spouse or children. He might be the Fred Baldwin, age 82, who died 10 Aug 1940 in Bethany, New York (not far from Batavia and Alabama).4

  2. Lodina Richards, born about Mar 1850
  3. Francis G. Richards, born 6 Aug 1851, Wyoming Co, NY
  4. Owen L. Richards, born 1 Feb 1860, NY

He was a co-executor and heir of the estate of his father, Peter Richards, of Orangeville, whose will was proved 5 July 1869.2

Per death record, Charles died in Allegheny, Pennsylvania, now part of Pittsburgh. His last known residence was Woods Run Avenue, 10th Ward, Allegheny.3 His death notice in the Pittsburgh Dispatch says he died at age 69, whereas his death record says 72.4

Research Notes for Charles Richards:

A Charles Richards, 5 months old, born about 1 Feb 1860, was living with Charles and Phoebe in Orangeville on 1 June 1860, per census. Owen Richards was not present. Since Owen was born on that date, probably the census taker made a mistake, or Owen was named Charles at the time, later changed to Owen.
